You can do a lot with $100 Billion. This first spreadsheet is just an overview. We need more spreadsheets on the details and sustainability for each project. We need more on models of the costs of continued conflict on the Israel and Palestine economy, in terms of tourism, business confidence, future value of human capital lost, etc, versus a model for peaceful coexistence. If you can help with financial models, please contact us. |
Basic Quantity | Units of cost | Basic Cost | Subtotal | Rationale | |
Fix the Refugee problem | 750,000 | expelled in 1948 | $40,000 | $30,000,000,000 | Abandon "right of return" and get paid. They can't return anyhow, but this will stimulate the Palestine Economy and enable the purchase of abandoned settlement housing units. Need better banking and credit system. Maybe 10,000 for 3M people? |
Undo the settlements | 200,000 | Families | $100,000 | $20,000,000,000 | Encourage families to sell their housing units to newly wealthy Palestinean families. Pay for their return to Israel where the real estate is much more expensive by granting the differential Real Estate Value as downpayment. |
Water Projects | 20 | public water works | $1,000,000,000 | $20,000,000,000 | Large projects like nuclear desalinization plants, aqueducts, paying off Lebanon and Syria, and small projects like local water purification, and a market mechanism so Palestine can sell water to Israel. Lots of jobs. |
Big Dig | 30 | Miles | $500,000,000 | $15,000,000,000 | 6 lane Underground Highway from Westbank to Gaza for continuous Palestine and continuous Israel. Need mass transit if they don't own cars. Better than a bridge for free passage. With permanent jobs, like Mass Turnpike. |
Jerusalem REIT | 100,000 | Real Estate parcels | $150,000 | $15,000,000,000 | Could an international REIT Buy up every piece of Jerusalem real estate and rent it back? It should be international non-denominational publically traded stock so the world can share ownership. Maybe buy some and use rental monopoly to acquire rest over 50 years? |
